Rail operations at the B&O Railroad Museum were suspended on February 26, 2024, while the museum awaited supplies to replace 100 ties and 400 feet of rail for safety. Train rides continue to be popular with museum visitors. In 2023, the museum ran 450 trains for an estimated 49,600 paying passengers.
Work on the line began on March 14, 2024, with workers, including Garry, replacing the ties.
The work crew includes Baltimore Chapter President Garry Pace (center), the B&O Rail Museum’s Assistant Director of Rail Operations, along with museum rail operations employees.
After weeks of delays in material deliveries, followed by weeks of rain and cold, the crew was able to resume work. The team began dropping the new rails, ready for placement.
